Getting
here...
If you are
travelling directly to Hvar, the easiest way
is probably by air to Split (on the mainland) and
then taking a ferry or catamaran to Hvar Island.
With flights to Split now available from a
number of British Airports with Easyjet,
FlyBe, Thomas Cook and Croatian Airlines, it has
never been so easy to get to Hvar. There are also
direct flights from France, Germany and Italy amongst others.
From Split airport there is a frequent bus
service (Croatian Airlines) to Split port (costs about £3 – 2008
price) or you can take a taxi for around £25
to £30. Either way it will take approximately 30
minutes depending on traffic.
From Split port there are several ferries and
catamarans each day. Cost of a single ticket
varies but in 2008 was in the region of £4.
Timings vary according to the time of year, but
typically from June to September there will be 3
to 4 catamarans daily, each taking 1 hour
direct to Hvar town.
Catamaran is our favourite way to arrive as you get
a fantastic view of the Venetian buildings leading
to the waterfront.
There are also 4 or 5 ferries which take
approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to Stari Grad
on the Island of Hvar. A bus meets the ferry
and runs to Hvar Town, taking approximately 30
minutes. Alternatively, taxis are available.
Timetable for catamarans and ferries can be obtained
from

and

'Gerberas' in very conveniently situated
being only minutes walk from where the catamaran
docks, and a stroll from the bus station.
Our contact in Hvar meets all guests from the Hvar
Town catamaran or bus station and shows you to the
house.
From
other places in the Adriatic...
The island of Hvar
is served by the main Croatian coastal ferry and
also with fast catamaran services from the Italian
ports of Ancona and Pescara. This makes Hvar Town an
ideal place to combine with visits to Dubrovnik,
Rijeka, Zadar or many of the other Croatian islands.
